Re: Should school support more artistic activities?
The school itself gives an stereotype of how to be a successful person only taking into account what they call "important subjects" such as mathematics and English, to name some examples. It is true that in a developing country such as Colombia, the knowledge that really matters implies mathematics and a second language, to get a good job, and furthermore, be successful in life. However, the school made the students believe that those "artistic abilities" and artistic subjects have no importance. And I don't refer that they should become artists or musical composers or anything of the sort, but the capabilities that are formed from these activities are actually essential, because not everything in life is just academic.
