It depends in the type of hobby, because hobbies are not only sports, hobbies are an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation, it also can be painting, cooking, many activities that are not involved with the wealth.

Having hobbies and leisure activities are truly important to life. Not only are hobbies fun, but they can refresh the mind and body; assist one in staying healthy, active and happy. It helps to improve memory. Many hobbies will challenge your mental abilities and enhance your problem solving skills. Most hobbies also offer mental stimulation in reference to completing the task. Also Reduce stress. Most people pursue hobbies because they enjoy them, and many things that we enjoy doing help relieve stress in our lives. Some of these ideas may also help create a calm atmosphere to reduce stress

I think that they can help you develop mental health, the fact that you do an activity that is pleasant for you continiously relaxes you; however, physical health relys on the hobbie and the effort that you may place on it.

I totally agree with you! We are really eye to eye in this point of view.
In my opinion as well, hobbies are a way of relaxing and doing what you love.
According to a 2009 study testing the potential of managing anxiety in eating disorders with knitting found that, “patients reported a subjective reduction in anxious preoccupation when knitting, more specifically- 74 percent reported it had a calming and therapeutic effect.” Engaging in a hobby you already love may be just the treatment you have been looking for. Some people find that listening to music, volunteer work, keeping a daily journal of events and how they feel, laughter, playing with pets, shopping, or other forms of common hobbies helped them to relax.
Considering the amount of hobbies we can now choose from, in a few years, the amount of people having an stable mental health, might just blow up, and society might achieve a peaceful live.

I think that hobbies are really important in your life because are things you enjoy doing and is a form of telling yourself that you do care about it and spend time for it. In that way you can feel better with yourself and start feeling better mentally. (In your health)
