Does sustainable energy can be profitable and will it be allowed by fossil fuel companies such as Ecopetrol?

Many companies make profit by selling gas natural gas and other fossil fuels that affect our planet so renewable energies are in need to save the planet, however as pretty as this sounds renewable energies imply a really high cost to the family implementing this energies on their home as well if implemented massively the government would have to pay a really high fee to support this type of energies. On the other hand some oil companies and fossil fuels companies won't allow the implementation of renewable energies given that it will loose gross profit. what do you think?
