I believe students should be given the permission to choose what books they are going to read for school. Most of the times students don't enjoy them, therefore they don't read and, eventually, get bad grades. This has happened most of the years, that's why we need a solution. If students are allowed to choose what books they read, they will have a better reading experience and will enjoy more the process. It's not a big problem, because almost any book can provide knowledge, and can be used academically. Even if at the beggining the process might be difficult and some teachers may disagree with it , this is still a golden opportunity for students.

Yes, we should due to the fact some books choosen by the school are boring. Since the books are boring the students won't be interested in reading the book and will leave it there. On the other side if students could choose them they would be able to see and choose which book is the most interest to them. On that case students will like to read and enjoy the book.

I would say yes because when we, the teenagers, are reading a boring book in an important class we use to look for summaries on Internet due to the fact that we don't understand it, is important for us to read interesting books. Books from where we can learn lessons , from where we can get knowledge, from where we think more about what we are reading than about what are going to do on Friday night. But, in the other hand, I would say no because out there is literature that is important to read, books that are necessary for us to improve our analysis skill, I believe that you are what you read, so is the moment to begin to read true and real literature, but the ball is in your court.

School should aloud us to choose which books to read because this way students would be more interested in them, a book chosen by a student becomes interesting and appealing and it would assure the student would actually read it because of pleasure, not because it's an obligation.

I don't agree with you opinion, as students should read the same book because of the fact that some students do not like reading and moreover would like to read books of low quality, that won't represent what we can consider a book proper for being read at school.

I think that students need to read all types of books, of different ages and genres, if the student decides what to read probably half of the teenagers would know why Juan Pablo Jaramillo is gay and no more.

I think it isn't a very good idea because every student will choose the easiest book or the genres they like, and they wouldn't choose the ones that gives you some type of lesson, or that apports in some way to your cultural knowledge

I think that when we read we most read the real literature but teens doesn't know about this, so they most read what the school thinks

Choosing the books students like would incentive more the habit of reading, due to the fact that they are reading something they like and for them it would be interesting. If they don't like the book they wouldn't read it and if they do, they wouldn't pay attention to what it says.

I don't agree with you, literature nowadays is to cut corners, although there are very good books, the popular ones are a waste of time, I mean, why should I know how to be a YouTuber, this is the type of "literature" we have and schools select many types of books, from different ages and are a lot more worth to read.analuciaa11 wrote:Choosing the books students like would incentive more the habit of reading, due to the fact that they are reading something they like and for them it would be interesting. Well Juliana, i agree with you, since, most of the books that us the students read are selected by the teachers. And those books are boring most of the times. Although they provide knowledge and they help to our learning process. Sometimes the teachers think that the books that we read have nothing to do with learning, they are judging a book by its cover. We can find some interesting books that go with the standards of the school, books that would be easy to fit in the classes and finally, to have fun and learning with them.Juliana-Torres wrote:I believe students should be given the permission to choose what books they are going to read for school. I agree with you, when you are doing something you enjoy (in this case reading) you will do it with attention and a total concentration, moreover, when you will have to make an exam about it you won’t be worried because you didn’t read it, on the other hand, you would have been so interested in reading it, that you will remember every detail and the results will be higher.

Students should be able to choose the book they are going to read since this could motivate students to participate actively in the classes due to the fact that they are talking about topics that they actually care about and not and not topics they are not interested in and they are forced to read about. Also if a student is interested in the topic they could write summaries and other types of assignments in a much easier and efficient way.

Agree in part
, I agree in part because it not only sounds good but students would feel better also, the problem is that we must have to do this with upper grades as Ninth, Ten and Eleven grade towards kids from primary won’t choose anything or they would chose books which don’t teach anything, as they don’t know what they want and what is better for them. They are as a computer, at first we need to save in their brains information that contribute to their education so in a future they would learn what is better for them.Juliana-Torres wrote:I believe students should be given the permission to choose what books they are going to read for school.
