What is the best horror movie?

There are a lot of movies of horror but what is the best of the best?

The best horror Movie is Friday 13th! It is full of suspense and horror. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be frightened.

I think that best horror movie of 2016 is Lights out, the first image of the movie is not the best one but you can not judge a book by its cover, it has a very good story at background it also creates a lot of scare so that is why I think is the best movie of horror by what have past in this 2016

But in my opinion I think that the old horror movies that ones that our parents saw like Freddy Krueger are the ones that don't let us sleep at night or take a shower and close our eyes. But think about it, the horror movies are not scary for alll te people sometimes that type of movies the only think that do is to create us a disorder that can affect us trough all our life.

I think that the best horror movie is Sinester, it actually keep the audience behind a pillow watching with one eye because you don't want to lose any detail but you know that the next thing that appears could make you scream and turn off the T.V. believe me when I tell you that after watching this movie you wouldn't think on sleeping alone that night.

I agree with you on old movies. They sure didn't have the special effects we have nowadays but they still manage to build a great tension that no others can achieve. I recall watching The Shining. It was a good horror movie because it didn't use jumpscares for cheap frights, it used intelligent build up and complex filiming. Didn't you know that Shelley Duvall had real reactions in the filming? Stanley Kubrick sure knows how to create good movies.
Another worthy mention is the original Freddy Krueger movie with Johnny Depp, as you said. It was a really convincing story, not about ghosts but about something that is fantastical yet kind of possible thanks to modern psychology.

Eventhough old movies are excellent, I would say that The Conjuring 2 is one of the best movies of horror I have ever seen. This movie is a far cry from other new movies that are just too predictable.

Freedy Krouger or Sinester(just the first one) are the best. Sinester due to the fact is a movie that traumatize all you emotions and even if you don´t want to see it, you stare there just waiting to know what will happen next. It actually intrigue and catch you since the first time. While Fredy Krouger a distopical and innovate theme of horror.
