I think people had the freedom of choosing the religion they want depending in their own beliefs and the things that they think are the best for them , they shouldn't follow or do what their parents are .

Hi Natalia, I agree with you, everyone is free to have their own beliefs, no one should be forced to believe in anything.

No, they are free to choose
Human beings are free in their own way, and it doesn't matter how important is now family in our societies, no other human should implicitly demand another human to follow a certain religion.
Human brains are capable of making their own decisions when a certain age is approached and families should understand this.
Let me introduce here the example of Islam, children are supposed to follow the religion the rest of their life and they must not marry or become in close contact with people from other religions. This is now changing, and taking in consideration the human rights, in specific the fundamental rights, and I quote:" article #19 of the human rights declaration, page 11, Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."
See? Religion is a maybe not a must.

I believe that everyone has the possibility of crossing what they consider correct even though their parents have different opinions or beliefs. Obviously for the children the parents represent a life guide and most of them will follow the beliefs of their parent but they should have the possibility of changing it.

I think people are free to believe in whatever they want since they don't hurt or affect others. People are free to decide and choose a religion to believe in, even though their parents or relatives don't agree with that.Natalia27072001 wrote:I think people had the freedom of choosing the religion they want depending in their own beliefs and the things that they think are the best for them , they shouldn't follow or do what their parents are .

People have totally freedom to follow the religion they want and parents shouldn't force them to follow a certain religion. Parents achieve their work by teaching us the religion they practice and also by inviting us to follow it, until that point it is valid then you decide which group follow.

Hi juan esteban, i totally agree with your posture, i also think that children and teens should have liberty at the time that they choose their religion.JuanLagos wrote:Natalia27072001 wrote:I think people had the freedom of choosing the religion they want depending in their own beliefs and the things that they think are the best for them , they shouldn't follow or do what their parents are .

I totally agree with you natalia, we all know this topic is a hot potatoe among young people since parents tent to obligate them to believe in what they believe because they are living under their roof and they should follow their rules; but that's not ok. We should all have the choice to say "I don't believe god" or "I'm not going to church because I don't believe in it". Everyone thinks different, even young people so, people (children) should have the freedom to choose what they believe in without disrespecting their parents beliefs either.Natalia27072001 wrote:I think people had the freedom of choosing the religion they want depending in their own beliefs and the things that they think are the best for them , they shouldn't follow or do what their parents are .

I totally agree with Laura, but not only it is hard-to-understand to parents that kids can follow their own religion, but also for schools since nowadays schools have their own religion, and sometimes kids are forced to be in a religious ceremony that isn't in what they belief, there is were a kid is caught between two stools. Furthermore, their are vanishing kids fundamental rights, as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966) say, Article 18 of the Civil and Political Covenant is widely regarded as one of the most important—if not the most important—articles on freedom of religion or belief. It reads:
1. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. This right shall include freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice, and freedom, either individually or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in worship, observance, practice and teaching.
2. No one shall be subject to coercion which would impair his freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice.
3. Freedom to manifest one’s religion or beliefs may be subject only to such limitations as are prescribed by law and are necessary to protect public safety, order, health, or morals or the fundamental rights and freedoms of others.
4. The States Parties to the present Covenant undertake to have respect for the liberty of parents and, when applicable, legal guardians to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in conformity with their own convictions.
And kids as their are like clean paper sheets, take another religion or they belief in something that their are not convicted in, and that basically make bigger the issue. So now the human beings need to act up and put and end to this issue.

It is important that by having the liberty to choose a religion you may also respect the liberty of others to choose theirs. Moreover, when choosing what to believe in you have to be sure it makes you feel happy

I totally agree with you, not everyone think about life the same way and no one should force another person to see life the same way they do. Humans are in their total capacity of criticizing and they know what will make them happy and enjoy life.Natalia27072001 wrote:I think people had the freedom of choosing the religion they want depending in their own beliefs and the things that they think are the best for them , they shouldn't follow or do what their parents are .
