The Death penalty should be prohibited
How could someone punish killers by killing them, it's illogically. We apply death penalty to criminals, those who murder someone, rape them or do a lot more horrible things. And then the state becomes the murderer and says that these actions are justified do to the fact they are criminals; bad person who made bad decisions, but if we think about it the action of killing someone it could be just done by an awful and insane person, so how come that our leaders are those who create this law and are the ones that send people to perform this action think this will be a pice of cake. Taking someone's life is not so easy.

In fact I approved and I am in favor on this sentence. Through the years I have seen how society is formed, but this society that I have seen is not the good one. The society that steel or make danger have the ritual of steel go to jail and come out after 72 hours; moreover, we can noticed that they are not scared on consequences; however, it is necessary to create this way to scared them in an easy way: killing them. I know that this type of method is going against the human rights, but if we take conscious they have been against this rights when they start making this acts. Colombia is one of the most dangerous country, and most of visitors have this believe; furthermore, if we apply death to dose who make the bad we are going to created a most secure society bringing up new opportunities and new possibilities. In the case they created the possibility I will support it.

The death penalty has to be prohibited!
First of all, it is a complete denial of human rights according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
What we have to understand is that sentencing someone to death will not deter people from committing crime, that´s why countries that have already stopped executing people, need to take this punishment off their legal constitution, permanently.

I completely disagree with you Santiago given that life is a fundamental and inalienable right for all human beings. Moreover according to title I, article 5 of the colombian constitution which says "The country recognizes, without discrimination, the primacy of the inalienable rights of a person...", this means Colombians don't have the power to decide over someone else's life.
It is certainly true some people break down when this "bad guys" are left free after a couple of hours which is totally understandable but this isn't a mistake in the type of judgement but in the effectiveness of the judicial system of each country; In fact, according to the UNODC, in EEUU, where death penalty is established, the rate of homicides kept stable between 2001 and 2012 even tough the death penalty was implemented so this method does not "scare" or avoid criminals to commit this type of acts.
Also some judgements are made to innocent people rather than the true perpetrators of the crime just because judges, worth the redundancy, judge a book by its cover, so is it fair to kill someone who didn't do absolutely nothing just because an "error"?

Death penalty should be prohibed
Well Santiago my thoughts are a far cry from yours, I understand that Colombia has a very dangerous scosiety and that the punishments applied may be not be enough but even though Colombia has a inimaginable amount of people in their jails until the point that the jails trie to spit out all of them. Also if we compare Colombia with a country as Afganistan( the most dangerous country of the world) in which death penalty is apply you will se that the death penalty is not decreasing the danger of the country but it is generating more violence in the scosiety so I believe that the death penalty should be prohibited because it isn't generating any changes but you are taking the mos important thing of all a live. So Santiago I hope you change your mind and can understand the reality of the thingsSantiescobar11227 wrote:In fact I approved and I am in favor on this sentence. I disagree with you Gabriela since yes, life is a fundamental and inalienable right, but the thing about rights is that when your rights end is where the other's rights begins. Here in Colombia might be difficult establishing Death Penalty since the justice system is not very trustworthy, but it could be an option for those criminals that commit cruel crimes like Mass Muerdering, terrorism, raping, or other crimes. I'm not saying we must kill all criminals, but Death Penalty should be an option for special circumstances, for example what is a person went and raped kids and then killed them? Are you sure this person will learn in prison? No, this person went against the kids' rights, sending him to prison will not make him change; think about this: Do you think a criminal learns good habits in prison and decides to live a safe life? No, they don't, actually they learn other ways of committing crimes because well, they are amongst criminals. There are criminals that actually just infect society like serial killers or rapists that will remain the same because this type of criminals have a psychological problem. So even if we all have the same rights, you must also think about the victims, about the damage, about the problems they might have. So Gabriela, a penny for your thoughts? Does someone who causes massive damage everyday should still live amongst us? Does a criminal with psychological issues take the time to think about his/her actions in prison? I think death penalty must be applied to special circumstances because there are things in life that it solution must be death and not keeping them away.
