Even though reggaeton contains lots of sexual contain, hip hop does contain it too and after making an analysis of the lyrics of some songs hip hop comes to be worst talking about its lyrics, however this is the way those artists express their selves and they transmit that feeling to children, youngs, and adults and even though this isn't morally correct it keeps being art because of its purpose.

That if reggaeton should be accepted as an art??? ofcourse! it si like any other type of music and in my opinion, better than any other. It's lyrics is not relationed in the decision of it being an art or not. Many other types of music have the same implicit messages than reggaeton has but as reggaeton expresses feelings in such a explicit way is critiziced by many people which I think it is not correct, as I have said is like any other type of music and so it is obviously considered an art.

I believe music is art despite its content , it gives people the chance to dance and have a good time and for me art pleases the human being.

It is indeed a form of art. The level of feelings a piece of art wakes up on an audience depends a lot on what the audience wants to see on that piece of art. In this case, reggaeton wakes a lot of passionate feelings on people who like it. So yes, It is art.

No matter what their main purpose they have in their songs, sexual, drugs, prostitution etc. it is art because it is a music genre which is transmitting what those singers feel and think. Maybe it is not accepted too much in old generations but this doesn't mean it is not art.

The definition of art is: "The quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance." If you actually get to think that reggaeton is beautiful and has more than ordinary significance it gets to be an art. In any other way we can say about it that is, as it has been said in this forum, a simple way to express something. Like words, but with a synthesizer next to them producing sounds that can not technically be clasified as music.

Reggeaton in my opinion is in fact a form of art due to the fact that art evidences in many cases a criticism to the society and what man has evolved to, according to the sociology of literature and forms of art. an example of this is "dame más gasolina" from daddy yankee. although many may have not realized it, this song criticizes the petroleum fall and problem that was present on that decade.

Reggaeton in my opinion is and should be considered an art, doing and developing one single song takes a lot of time, takes a lot of hard work, no sleeping, and thinking as never for the letter of the songs the rhythm, everything. Music is a way of expressing feelings, thoughts, stories and life situations, and i consider every way of expressing feelings and thoughts is art, because many songs have message, that message might be implicit or explicit but it is not always bad.

However reggaeton have some bad messages in the lyrics of its songs i think that is accepted as an art in the way that most of the composers or the artist that perform it, express some real situations that are living many people are living, and not only the lyrics but many reggaeton songs have a rhythm that really make you dance.

I agree with Lilian, reggaeton is music, that's why makes it art. An art that represents millions of people
