Well it does relate to a historical period, the sovietic union. The animals in the farm each describe a chareacter from real life that did something during the conflict and it also describes the events that happened. The author is know for the satiric novels he made, and Animal Farm is not the exception.

Animal farm is actually a symbolism itself about the Russian revolution. Each character represents an important real character in history, or a specific group, like the royalty and the working class.

Obviously! You see, Animal farm is all about animals being liberated from humans. Humans and humanity represent capitalism and burguesy at the early days of the Russian revolution. Old major is the main idealist that pushes the animals to be rebels as Lenin did when he started to convince the Russian people that Capitalism was the worst cancer of society and that he couldn't achieve the empowering of the working class without them giving him a hand. When Old Major dies, Napoleon and snowball (mainly) fight for the place of Old Major as commander chief of the revolution. That is exactly what happened in Soviet Russia when Lenin died in 1924 as Iósif Stalin and León Trotsky fought for power and leadership of the now socialist and ''free'' Russia.

I think that Animal farm represents not just the Russian Revolution but also can be applied to now days events and characters because of the context of the story and is not about the farm and animals, but the feelings that the animals had about oppression against to them by human and this event can be seen in nowadays societies in countries such as Venezuela.

It is obvious it stands for the Russian Revolution period, Orwell basically portray it as a critic in his book. It is remarkable the presence of Old Major as Lenin, Snowball as Trotsky, Napoleon as Stalin and Mr. Jones as Tsar Nicholas II, with the Manor Farm being Russia. The author showed how the revolution resulted in a way more oppressive and totalitarian regime than the one before, the book events and the characters actions are parallel to the ones presented in Russia in 1917.

Animal Farm can be related directly with the russian revolution due to the fact it is known that each character makes allusion to a real politician or makes a real reference to historical events in an implicit way. George Orwell made an excellent job in his text.

According to Orwell, the book reflects events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917 and then on into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union.Daniel Melo wrote:If you think that Animal farm describe a historical period, leave your comment about which period might be and explain why you choose your answer
