Animal Farm is based more on the russian revolution, so it helps us know better the inner situation that the country had at that time, before the war, and explain it to us by references of characteres that did existed, but the author show them as animals.

As Urbina said animal farm is based in the Russian Revolution so it can just help us to understand how was Russian population feeling towards the monarchy that Zar Nicolas was implanting to the country, but talking about the war the book just talk about this country and its inner situation so it can´t help us to understand actually a war (which by definition if a fight between two States or more) and even less a war with a magnitude like the first World War.9AUrbinaJuan wrote:Animal Farm is based more on the Russian revolution, so it helps us know better the inner situation that the country had at that time, before the war, and explain it to us by references of characters that did existed, but the author show them as animals.

Urbina is right. Animal Farm is a book based on the Russian Revolution not on the World War. Taking this into account the book was wrote with the objective of expressing how people were suffering, and the injustice of the leaders like Stalin. The author in a very clever way uses animals to represent a lot of the people that were involved in the Revolution in order that is wasn´t obvious who he was talking about and that they though it was fiction. Orwell did that in order to avoid having enemies and avoiding risking his life. This book is a different way to understand the Russian Revolution but it is very useful if you make the correct analysis of it.9AUrbinaJuan wrote:Animal Farm is based more on the russian revolution, so it helps us know better the inner situation that the country had at that time, before the war, and explain it to us by references of characteres that did existed, but the author show them as animals.

Animal farm can help us to understand the Russian Revolution of 1917 as one that resulted in a government more oppressive and totalitarism. Many of the characters and events of Orwell's novel compares those of the Russian Revolution. Manor Farm is a model of Russia, and old Major, Snowball, and Napoleon represent the dominant figures of the Russian Revolution.

Animal farm more than helping us understand the world war help us understand the russian revolution because demonstrates how a rebelion or revolution that seems to be good, at the end it demonstrates that any people can be corrupted by power and take advantage of the ideas of the revolution to make their own plans

It does not explain us about the World War, but it does help us to know some important characters that made an important role in the World War. It also shows us the importance of having historical memory as with it we can understand the mistakes made by leaders of important countries as Russia and Germany. But, the period in which the book and the movie are based on is the Russian Revolution.
