Why should we all be proud to be Colombians?

206 years ago the Colombian began to proclaim our independence, and since then the world identifies us with dozens of unique and wonderful things. So,Why should we celebrate being Colombians?


1. Food: From santafereño ajiaco in Cundinamarca, the Aborrajados and marranitas in Cali, through the "castor bean" in the Eastern Plains and tolimense tamale, the national cuisine is as varied as exquisite.
2. His people. Cheerful, helpful, friendly, persevering and hospital are just some of the adjectives that describe and distinguish anywhere in the world. No lie: a fellow leaves a mark wherever you go.
3. Their celebrations and traditions. No matter the time of year, Colombians always have a good reason to celebrate. Or who, perhaps, has not enjoyed the Carnival of Barranquilla, the Festival of Blacks and Whites in Pasto, or the Manizales Fair? And that's just the beginning: the Vallenato Legend Festival in Valledupar; the Flower Fair in Medellin, Cali Fair ...
4. Your athletes. The performance of Team Colombia in the World Cup in Brazil is the latest in a series of joys, a time now, they have made us vibrate. With names like Mariana Pajon, Catherine Ibarguen, Rigoberto Uran Nairo Quintana or the name of our country it is today a reference in sport. Great, guys!
5. Your music. Pacific to the Caribbean, the variety of rhythms and sounds of our country is as extensive as its geography. Vallenato, Cumbia, Hall, Curruluao, Mapalé, Porro ... the list would be very long. And that without naming the artists who leave the name of our country high: Shakira, Juanes, Toto la Momposina ...

Because although we have been through a lot of problems, we always go ahead with the best attitude and overcome them.

Being Colombian. I´m really proud about it, we have all kind of flowers, animals, temperatures, people, sports. Colombian people are strong, maybe we sometimes have a poor mentality but we are great people and we do can be successful in everything we want.

Because one thing that all of us have in common is that we fight for what we want no matter in what context we are. This is for me the main reason why we should be proud of it.

We are known by some negative aspects, which have drawn boundaries internationally, but we should be proud about the fact of waking up in one of the most diverse places in the world, we have athletes whom have achieved every single obstacle to change foreigners minds, they have stacked our country in a podium, whose will is to mindset a goal of change.
