Re: What do you think about the Colombian movies?
I totally agree with you, Paula. For some reason Colombia is not well recognized for its movies, it might be because we really don't have good ones or at least worth watching films and the only one which reached the international public in a significant way is The embrace of the serpent thanks to the Colombian coproduction. Movies like "El Paseo" or "Uno al año no hace daño" are very poor ones, not only talking about the economic resources they used in them, but also talking about the plot, actors performance and setting of them. The actors surely are not prepared for acting in movies and, honestly, I was glad to see them back off at the end of the film since it was a waste of time watching them.9APaula wrote:Colombia is not know because of the production of great movies and I think most of them are just lame and they lack of good themes.

I think that Colombian movies are great but they are very exclusive for Colombian, because pretty much every Colombian movie is about Colombia.9APaula wrote:Colombia is not know because of the production of great movies and I think most of them are just lame and they lack of good themes.

I think Colombian movies ...
Colombian movies are the worst and horrible creations ever , they are the worst movies in the world , they are repetitive or they use the problematics of the country.

Colombian movies are not the worst movies, but they aren't the best either. I think they are really focused only to Colombia's population because it makes a lot of emphasis to jokes, slangs and problems only the country can understand, so it is really not for international viewers.

I believe the problem with the entertainment production area is that Colombian producers and directors lack of creativity to make films or series. They are all redundant and only focus on the same topic which is drug dealing and gang groups. Defenetly the public will get bored.9APaula wrote:Colombia is not know because of the production of great movies and I think most of them are just lame and they lack of good themes.

Although I think that some of the details about Colombian jokes that are used in the Colombian movies are really great the problema here is that the quality of the movies is really pour, in addition the themes of these movies might not be the most indicated.

Reflection
Mariana, you have to understand that a country produces art pieces that reflect that nation's situation. In our case, Colombia has been living on constant conflict since the colonial era and it is almost impossible that we don't express and showw not only our people but to the whole world how we live and how that constant violent paradigm makes us a violent country.Marianamonroy00 wrote:I believe the problem with the entertainment production area is that Colombian producers and directors lack of creativity to make films or series. I do agree with you in the oint that movies and series are a way people have to express their point of view of the country´s situation. On the other hand, it is time that colombian directors and producers start to focus in other things good or bad that our country has and not only talking about Escobar and drugs. Why a lot of countries have a bad concept of Colombia? Because our books, movies and series all talk about violence, drug dealing, FARC, corruption and other staff like that. For me, it is moment to show the world the good things our country has too.

Paula, don't you think it's pretty difficult to show those types of characteristics that we the colombian people DO have when the international community now see us as the country that rejected a peace treate?9APaula wrote:juancamilobustosg wrote:Mariana, you have to understand that a country produces art pieces that reflect that nation's situation. Re: What do you think about the Colombian movies?
I think Colombian film industries are underated. And that causes low interest in people to support the national film industry. The biggest mistake Colombia has made is probably investing of cringey comedy movies, that have monopolized the country.
The independant films are most recognized ones and should be more supported.

Re: What do you think about the Colombian movies?
Colombian movies are awful. They always try to give comedy to situations that Colombians experience day by day;however, that desire of wanting lots of comedy turn aside what really makes a movie good, the plot. Films like "El Paseo 2" are perfect examples of the desire of lots of comedy but little good scenes where the characters need to resolve a real unfavorable situation. The few good Colombian movies they have created, ends like any
other awful Colombian movie when they reveal the sequel.
